FR3ES JOURNEY!
Shaun White and Big Ven first met battling in the depths of the grime scene over 7 years ago as teenagers, coming face to face with each other on numerous occasions. After the 3rd time It became obvious that life would be easier if they joined forces as they both respected each others talents and abilities.
Along with MCs Luke Depth and Desperado, Shaun and Ven founded South Soldiers and became a fixture on the UK underground grime scene, going on to support the likes of U.S stars Akon and Ray J and beating X Factors star Alexandra Burke to 2nd place in ‘05’s Urban Voice competition.
As genres morphed, UK funky became the new grime and its figureheads positioned themselves for chart success. Shaun and Ven were also itching to experiment and move away from the confines of the underground and in ’06 South Soldiers was disbanded and FR3E was born.
“The UK funky, grime and hip-hop scenes have been great platforms for us but we’re aiming for more than that,” says Ven. “Yeah, we like Lil Wayne, Jay Z and Outkast, we loved Michael Jackson, but Kings of Leon are great. Popular music is in a good place now and that’s where we want our sound to take us.”
